What is protein-rich plasma (PRP)?
Red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma are all components found in your blood. Each plays a role in keeping you healthy. Plasma is about 90% water. It keeps your blood fluid enough to move easily through your blood vessels. Platelets contain substances such as collagen and other proteins that help replace and rebuild damaged tissue throughout your body.
Platelet-rich plasma is created by taking a small amount of your blood and using a special machine (centrifuge) to separate the red and white blood cells from the plasma and platelets.
